Findology report continued …

by Robert Dobes | June 4th, 2007

I completed my PPC (pay-per-click) campaign at Findology and if you’ve read my previous post on this subject this is a follow up with some more interesting information.

By this time I have used all the funds ($75) I had available for this campaign which generated me close to 650 click throughs. Even after the many visits to couple of my websites I received 0 (zero) registrations/sales. After my previous post, even though I was very skeptical, I still believed at least one or two visitors would get hooked. Nothing happened.
75 USD is wasted not counting the time I spent on writing ads, keyword research and traffic monitoring.

I did some research on google to see what other people have to say about them.

Oddly enough you can find many happy publishers (affiliate partners) who claim to receive payments without any problem however I couldn’t find any comments or posts made by happy advertisers.
In addition to that I found some forum posts from people reporting their browser was hijacked and fed with Findology ads. I’m not saying Findology is using these dirty practices to distribute their ads but there are definitely some affiliate partners making money by forcing their ads to your browsers.

What is my conclusion? If you are an advertiser looking for cheap clicks from quality PPC service I would recommend you to stay away from Findology, however if you want to make some money by joining Findology’s affiliate program then you can certainly go ahead and do so. They have a good set of moneymaking tools for publishers plus they pay on time (checks are mailed out on the 1st of each month) but on the other hand don’t expect quick help from their customer support since some people reported it takes time to hear back from them.

I know this is an old post, but I looked further into Findology’s reporting service and you can e-mail them to exclude what they called “partner ID’s” you think are passing unusual traffic.

The top one for me is partner ID 8050.

The referring url for my site from this partner was “http://216.133.243.28/2.php?sid=8050″

I googled the phrase “http://216.133.243.28/2.php?sid=8050″ and a site came up with a blog post with someone complaining that their machine had been hijacked:

Pretty much all the proof you need.
